Shafer RELENTLESS Napa Valley 2008 Syrah

Shafer RELENTLESS Napa Valley 2008 Syrah, $53.54-$62.99, 96 points, appeared core black trending deep purple/red toward the leggy glass wall and broad transparent rim.
The wafting aroma of lilacs, coffee, smoked bacon-fat, earth, and wild blackberries could be sensed a proverbial "mile away".
The velvet-smooth full body carried good acidity and silky tannin.
Flavors reflected the aroma, but finished long and strong on heat (15.6% alcohol), and the trailing palate, but flowers, mint, and spice continued to accelerate.
Varietals were 75% Syrah and 25% Petite Sirah.
This is a BIG magnificent red wine; pair with big rich stews or spiced lamb.

  1. This is one of my co-workers favoutire wines. Have yet to try it for myself. Apparently, they will only sell you one bottle at a time at the winery.
