The aroma, though complex, hides behind a dominant glycerol like note, and is one of my least favorite common smells in less expensive Merlots, Syrahs, and Zinfandels, but though this glycerol carries onto the early palate, the flavor subsides and transmutes into a rather fruity, almost jammy dry red wine.
