Vigna Madre Kriya Terre Di Chieti-Abruzzo 2023 Pecorino White Wine IGP, $10.57-$14.99, 88 points, was a medium brass color with apricot highlights and a broad graying penumbra.
Aromas of sweet apple, a touch of peach peel, spring-water minerality, and a hint of pome blossoms were soft and pleasant.
My first Pecorino White Wine was light nicely acidic, showed minerality and flavors of Necco wafer, a floral vibe, and a hint of apricot.
Finished long on the fading palate, white pepper, a hint of citrus, and a well-balanced 13% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my fried haddock.

Sanctum LEPTIR 2022 Dry White Wine Slovenija

 


Sanctum LEPTIR 2022 Dry White Wine Slovenija, $15.45-$20.99, 90 points, was nearly a Rosé pink with deep amber highlights and a broad light gray penumbra.
Aromas of orange peel, pome blossoms, and hints of apricot with citrus notes were pleasant.
This Slovenian dry white wine showed light-bodied, good acidity, weak up front palate with excellent mid-late palate flavor evolution of spice, stone fruit, and fennel.
Finished long with white pepper, fig, and a well-balanced 13% alcohol.
Varietals were 50% Pinot Blanc, 40% Chardonnay, and 10% Pinot Gris.
Paired perfectly with our Asian cuisine.

Buehler Napa Valley 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon

 


Buehler Napa Valley 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, $23.99-$32.99, 90 points, poured core black grading to a deep ruby red with a moderately broad meniscus and copious legs.
Aromas of roasted coffee bean, blackberries, and softly perfumed cedar notes were pleasant.
As is Buehler's want, the 2019 is a good, reliable, and tasty dry full-bodied red wine with fair acidity, round tannins, and righteous flavors reflective of the aromas.
Finished long on the trailing palate, anise, easy pepper spices, and a well-balanced 14.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my spice-rubbed Delmonico steak.

Villa Pozzi, Terre Siciliane 2022 Moscato (IGT)

 


Villa Pozzi, Terre Siciliane 2022 Moscato (IGT), $10.39-$14.99, 90 points was a light brass color graying midway towards the rim and showing a gentle fizz.
Aromas of lime juice, white chocolate, and dusty hay notes were lovely.
This Moscato was near medium-bodied, showed fair acidity, and delivered an upfront bath of sweetness which mellowed nicely late palate; flavors of guava, rock candy, and a citrus note were tasty.
Finished very long on the fading palate, honeydew melon, and a typical 7% alcohol.
Paired well with my spicy hot wings.

Hoopes Napa Valley "Oakville" 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon

 


Hoopes Napa Valley "Oakville" 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, $38.22-$124.99, 93 points, poured a deep ruby red with a moderate clear wine ring and alcohol sheeting cascading into a neckless of fat stained-legs.
Aromas of earth, mushrooms, ripe mulberry, plums, with hints of cedar and blackberries were complex and pleasant.
This Oakville Cab was full-bodied, opulent, showed fair to good acidity, round firm tannins, and rich flavors of anise, blackberries, plums, mushrooms, quite herbal and spicy.
Finished long on the strong trailing palate, a bit of iron, warm pepper spices, black licorice and a big but balanced 14.5% alcohol.
Paired PREFECTLY with our Asian beef and veggies.
This local "Power Buy" is a must for anyone that won't spend more than a hundred dollars for a bottle of wine but will spend less than fifty for a special occasion Cabernet Sauvignon or red wine.

Roscato, Trevenezie, 2022 Moscato, $8.79-$12.99, 89 points, was a platinum white color with brass highlights, a gentle fizz and quite clear towards the rim.
Easy aromas of rock candy, minerality, fresh-cut hay, and a whisper of white chocolate were pleasant!
Near medium-bodied, this Moscato showed fair acidity, moderately sweet, reflective flavors of the nose, and typically tasty.
Finished consistent with the overall palate and a soft 7% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my "hot" wings (chicken).

Château Godeau Saint Émilion Grand Cru 2019 Bordeaux Red Wine, $23.99-$39.99, 91 points, poured core black grading to an unfiltered pomegranate red with stained glass sheeting and a clear meniscus.
Aromas of rose pedal, perfumed forest floor, cinnamon, cedar, and sun-warmed blackberries were outstanding.
This Saint Émilion Grand Cru was soft, opulent, plumy, appropriately acidic, and yet showed good tannin support.
Finished long on the trailing palate, hints of iron, red pepper, a tad astringent, and with a big 14.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my spice-rubbed grass-fed rib eye.

Torres "Secret del" 2020 Priorat Red Wine

 


Torres "Secret del" 2020 Priorat Red Wine, $27.99-$34.99, 92 points, poured a bright clean ruby red with a broad clear meniscus and sticky stained legs.
The lovely bouquet was perfumed fruit and flowers with herbal, earth, and cedar notes.
I love Priorat wines, just maybe my favorite Spanish appellation, and this red wine was no different.
Not quite full-bodied, but rich, dry, fruity, spicy, showed good acidity and supportive yet easy grainy tannins.
Finished long with spice, plum, and fig flavors, and delivered a well-balanced 14% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my veggie flatbread pizza.
Varietals were Garnacha, Cariñena, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.

Gattavecchi Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano DOCG, $23.99-29.99, 91+ points, poured a deep glossy ruby red with bourbon highlights, broad clear meniscus, and a sticky clear neckless of legs.
A lovely bouquet of sweet fennel, red fruit, variety of dried Lamiaceae, and a floral vibe pleased immensely!
Vino Nobile is almost always a great wine, after all, the vineyards were planted for the nobles, the price is usually reasonable, and this one is no different; flavors were earthy, rich, and enhanced with easy grainy tannins, good acidity, and an inviting mouthfeel.
Finished long, drifting flavors of truffle, mint, exciting spicy pepper, and a warm 14.5% alcohol were memorable.

Ruffino Modus Toscana I.G.T. 2018 Red Wine, $22.19-$32.99, 90 points, poured a deep ruby red with a slight flash of russet, thin bleeding meniscus, and fat-stained legs.
Soft perfumed floral notes were accented with tons of red fruit, sweet cooking herbs, and hints of toast, milk chocolate, and mushrooms were complex and lovely.
Full-bodied, dry, brightly acidic, showed firm fine grainy tannins (a bit astringent), and a tasty rendition of the bouquet.
Finished long on the trailing palate and a big 15% alcohol.
Paired fine with my meatball pizza.

Hartford Court Russian River Valley 2021 Chardonnay, $25.59-$31.99, 91 points, was a light brass color with a yellow/gold sheen and graying midway towards the rim.
Aromas of lemon zest, dusty melon rind, and hints of cantaloupe and wood were pretty.
This Russian River Chardonnay was dry and medium-bodied, showed good acidity, and a deep flavor profile lead by mellow wood notes, white pepper, tart lemon peel, apricot, and citrusy ginger.
Finished long of the trailing palate and a reigned-in 14.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my rotisserie chicken.

Beni di Batasiolo 2023 Gavi DOCG

 


Beni di Batasiolo 2023 Gavi DOCG, $12.99-$19.99, 89 points, was a medium straw yellow with a broad graying meniscus.
Aromas of vanilla, lime juice, dusty lemon zest, and a hint of warmed Clementine peel were quite pleasant.
Beni di Batasiolo 2023 Gavi was light, refreshing, tasty, and bright, flavors tracked the nose.
Finished fair, a bit on the mineral side of the palate with a touch of complex citrus notes, white pepper, and a well-balanced 12.5% alcohol.
Paired fine with my batter-fried haddock, but only so, so with my Mac&Cheese (cheddar).
