Italian Red Wines (Blended- IGT etcetera)

My list of Italian Indicazione geografica tipica (IGT) Wines is another work-in-progress, and is being built to assist those interested in finding, and also in comparing wine reviews, especially those using "smart" phones.
This category of Italian red wines is all-inclusive of those wines not otherwise categorized as a single varietal such as Chianti, even though Chianti often has Canaiolo and Colorino or other varietals blended in; Chianti typically has at least 70% Sangiovese.
IGT ( Indicazione geografica tipica), or sometimes referred to as Super Tuscan, and IGP (indicazione geographica protetta) will most often denote the category of wine specific to this list.

  1. Hold it!! I see no review on Galatrona! Dennis, one of my favorites. And...I dare say maybe the best Merlot in Italy. It's better than Masseto. And maybe better than Redigaffi. Sick Sick Sick...

I try to still buy one bottle per year. You know it's not cheap, so...

    1. John, your taste-buds have been blessed!
      No review!
I haven't opened it yet, but if you see my reply, give me some idea how long I should keep this, thanks,

  2. The 2005's drink fairly early I think. I haven't cellared many. I think I'd drink this wine, this winter - with something very appropriate like a filet with gorgonzola, or osso bucco, or risotto of some sort with cheese! Galatrona is a special, special wine. You're lucky to have it because it's not so easy to locate.

  3. I may be trying the 2009 soon. Can't wait!
