Domaine Delaporte Silex 2020 Chavignol Sancerre (Pinot Noir)

Domaine Delaporte Silex 2020 Chavignol Sancerre (Pinot Noir), $29.99-$41.99, 89 points, poured a deep cranberry red with a broad clear meniscus and light sticky legs.
Aromas of cocoa, flowers, red cherry, and mulberry were pleasant.
My first Sancerre Pinot Noir was an angular medium-bodied red wine with good acidity, tighter tannins than I would have expected from a Pinot Noir, and interestingly a quite grapey flavor profile nuanced with herbs and citrus.
Finished long and spicy with a well-balanced 13% alcohol.
Paired fine with our chicken smorgasbord.

Famille Perrin Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2019 Red Wine

Famille Perrin Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2019 Red Wine, $34.84-$42.99, 91 points, poured a lovely pomegranate red with a moderately broad clear meniscus and copious sticky legs.
The fruit-driven aroma was nuanced with mushroom and herbal notes.
This Châteauneuf-du-Pape was more a medium-bodied red wine (Rhône varietals), showed good acidity, a firm plank of supportive tannins, yet a rather sleek mouthfeel, and tasty flavors of red raspberry, mulberry, spearmint, and dried cooking herbs.
Finished fair and delicious with a well-balanced 14.5% alcohol.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape doesn't usually remind me of Pinot Noir, but this did, and a good Pinot Noir at that.
Paired fine with our Asian cuisine and better with the beef chow mien.

Château La Gorre Cru Bourgeois Médoc 2016 Red Wine

Château La Gorre Cru Bourgeois Médoc 2016 Red Wine, $29.99-$82.99, 91 points, poured broadly black grading to an unfiltered ruby red with a clear meniscus and copious stained-legs.
The lovely bouquet was earthy, floral, herbal, and showing touches of cedar and mushrooms.
La Gorre was full-bodied, showed good acidity, tamed supportive tannins, and good flavors reflective of the aromas.
Finished long on plum notes, hints of anise, and a well-balanced 14.5% alcohol.
Varietals were 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdo.
Paired perfectly with my beef stew.

Ant Moore Estate, Marlborough, NZ, 2022 Sauvignon Blanc

Ant Moore Estate, Marlborough, NZ, 2022 Sauvignon Blanc, $12.74-$16.99, 86 points, was a light-medium brass color with a broad gray penumbra.
Aromas were predominately gooseberries with hints of sour grass and passion fruit.
Ant Moore Estate SB was light-bodied with extraordinary acidity and flavors dominated by white grapefruit with grassy notes, lime and lime peel, and a touch of ginger.
Finished long on the fading palate and a well-balanced 13% alcohol.
Paired fine with my Yellowfin tuna salad.

Artesa Napa Valley 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon

Artesa Napa Valley 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, $18.99-$44.99, 92 points, poured a brilliant ruby-red color with a very broad clear meniscus and light copious legs.
Aromas of black currants, blackberries, a floral vibe, and hints of cedar and shoe polish were lovely.
Artesa was full-bodied, showed good acidity, a firm underlayment of tannin, and good flavors reflective of the aromas with a wonderful development of spiciness which transitioned the upfront smooth texture to a more tightly wound red wine experience.
Finished long on that spice, thinning-out fruit, and a well-balanced 14.2% alcohol. Balance is the watchword on this wine!!!
Paired perfectly with my barbequed pork ends.
I'm headed to the wine store for more of this!!!

Catena La Consulta, Mendoza, Argentina, 2020 Malbec

Catena La Consulta, Mendoza, Argentina, 2020 Malbec, $19.54-$24.99, 91 points, poured a rich Sienna color with a broad clear meniscus and light sticky legs.
Aromas were typically fruit-forward with hints of mulling spice which were good but not dramatic or particularly different than most Malbec red wines I've had.
This Malbec was full-bodied, showed good acidity, a supportive underlayment of tannin, and excellent upfront pepper spiciness accenting all that mulberry, blackberry, and a touch of red raspberry with mint.
Finished long on the developing mint, accelerating spiciness, and a well-balanced 13.5% alcohol.
Paired fine with my meatloaf dinner.

Ruca Malen, Medoza, Argentina, 2021 Malbec

Ruca Malen, Medoza, Argentina, 2021 Malbec, $18.69-$21.99, 90 points, poured core black grading to an opaque purple/red with a broad clear meniscus and sticky stained legs.
Aromas were earthy, fruity, with hints of cloves, mint, and a floral vibe.
This Ruca Malen Malbec was a muscular full-bodied red wine, more intense than any of the other recent Malbecs. The acidity was fair to good, tannins were round and supportive, and flavors were dominated by black licorice, oak, and black fruit.
Finished very long as it began, showed a touch of cayenne pepper, and a big 14.8% alcohol.
Paired fine with my provincial Salisbury steak in gravy with Mac and Cheese.
