Famille Perrin Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2019 Red Wine, $34.84-$42.99, 91 points, poured a lovely pomegranate red with a moderately broad clear meniscus and copious sticky legs.
The fruit-driven aroma was nuanced with mushroom and herbal notes.
This Châteauneuf-du-Pape was more a medium-bodied red wine (Rhône varietals), showed good acidity, a firm plank of supportive tannins, yet a rather sleek mouthfeel, and tasty flavors of red raspberry, mulberry, spearmint, and dried cooking herbs.
Finished fair and delicious with a well-balanced 14.5% alcohol.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape doesn't usually remind me of Pinot Noir, but this did, and a good Pinot Noir at that.
Paired fine with our Asian cuisine and better with the beef chow mien.
