Marchesi de Frescobaldi 'Pater-Paterna' Toscana 2015 Sangiovese (IGT), $9.99-$20.99, 85 points, poured an opaque ruby red with a clear rim and light draping.
The Severn screw-cap did not preclude a bit of funk on the nose, but fortunately it dissipated after several hours being replaced with soft notes of red raspberry, brine, and cherry fruit.
Medium-bodied with good acidity and mellow tannins carried a weak rendition of the nose with an ascending spicy finish.
The 12.5% alcohol was unobtrusive, and this wine paired fine with my beef stew.
