Robert Mondavi Napa Valley 2013 (Fume Blanc)

Robert Mondavi Napa Valley 2013 (Fume Blanc), $16.99-$20.99, 91 points, is an in-your-face Sauvignon Blanc: Bright straw color, honeysuckle and cantaloupe on the nose, light-plus body with good acidity, 14.5% potent alcohol, mellow citrus flavors with lemon meringue, capped-off with loads of ginger on the finish.
Varietals were 87% Sauvignon Blanc and 13% Semillon.

  1. Well, Bob really started the whole SB thing in the Napa Valley single-handedly, didn't he?

  2. VG: Introducing controversy? My understanding is that he set the standard and challenged Bordeaux! 14.5% alcohol would be a challenge for Bordeaux!
