Herederos Del Marqués De Riscal 2017 Rioja Reserva, 16.99-$19.99, 91 points, poured a deep rosewood red with a broad clear wine ring, and copious legs.
Aromas of anise, underbrush, cinnamon, clove, and hints of chocolate and black plums were excellent.
This Rioja Reserva was a near full-bodied red wine, showed good acidity, a firm underlayment of tannin, and good flavors reflective of the aromas.
Finished long on the trailing palate, a hint of iron, citrus, and a balanced 14.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with our Pepperoni pizza.
