Think Italy!
Prunotto 2012 Barbaresco DOCG (Piedmont, Italy), $35.69-$43.99, 91+ points, poured a candy-apple red up to the broad clear wine ring.
The earthy red cherry aroma with shy floral, rosemary, and briny notes were outstanding.
Medium-bodied with food grinding acids and firm building tannins managed flavors of black cherry, pomegranate, and bourbon notes reminiscent of some Brunello wines.
Finished long on the trailing palate, a hint of mint, warm invigorating spices, and a restrained 13.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my spaghetti, meatballs, and roasted garlic bread.
