Achaval Ferrer Mendoza 2014 Malbec, $16.14-$22.99, 90 points, poured core black shading a deep purple/red at the clear wine ring and glass wall of moderate legs.
Aromatic earth, a hint of brine, cedar, and sandalwood were excellent.
More than medium-bodied, fair-plus acidity, and round supportive tannin carried a balanced flavor profile marked by mulberry, oak, coffee, and a hint of plum.
Finished long on an accelerating white pepper, trailing palate, and an appropriate 14% alcohol.
I liked this wine better after breathing for a couple of hours.
Paired fine with our pepperoni pizza.

Ricardo Santos 2008 Mendoza 2008 Malbec, $14.99-$18.99, 88 points, poured an opaque purple/red which intruded the thin clear wine ring; the glass bowl was covered with thick legs.
Loamy smells were accented with peat and coffee notes.
Full-bodied with fair-plus acidity and soft round tannins managed well the flavors reflective of the aromas.
Finished long on the trailing palate, a hint of prune, perpetual pepper notes, and an appropriate 13.9% alcohol.
Paired fine with our pepperoni pizza.

Marchesi di Barolo 2014 Gavi (DOCG), $12.74-$18.99, 85 points, poured a light brass color grading clear toward the glass shallows.
Almost nothing on the nose except a hint of honeydew melon.
Light-bodied, crisp, appropriately acidic, and a refreshingly fruity though a rather nondescript white wine (just a hint of ginger, a floral note, and melon rind).
Finished okay on the trailing near-non palate and an accommodating 12% alcohol.
Paired okay with my Ipswich fried clams.

Renato Ratti 'Ochetti' Langhe 2014 Nebbiolo, $19.54-$27.99, 89 points, poured with a broad transparent wine ring and was a shade more orange than a typical ruby red.
Aromatic whispers of black cherry, sage, and roses were excellent.
Barely medium-bodied with good acidity and fine grain tannin carried a well-integrated flavor profile, a blend of cherry and dried herbs, that will perfectly accommodate many table settings (as it was with our saucy beef stew).
Finished long on black tea, warm spices, a bit of oak, and an appropriate 13.5% alcohol.

Sella And Mosca La Cala 2015 Vermintino Di Sardegna, Sardinia, $9.99-$11.99, 88 points, poured a crystal clear gold color with a light green cast.
Crisp pear aroma was accented by a hint of fennel.
A well balanced white wine I'd describe as light-bodied, juicy, clean, and robust with good acidity and flavors reflective of the aromas.
Finished well on green melon rind, loads of ginger, and a big 14% alcohol.
Paired fine with stir-fried vegetables and deep fried butterfly shrimp.

Weinkellerei Römerhof Mosel (Trittenheim) 2015 Kabinett Riesling, $12.59-$13.99, 87 points, poured a light gold color fading clear at the glass shallows.
Aromas were rather shy apple with a hint (good) of petrol.
Light, crisp for a sweet Riesling, good acidity, and though the flavors were just a tad too sweet for me, the tropical and pome fruits were very tasty.
Finished fair on pineapple, tangy citrus, and a low 8% alcohol.
Paired fine with our Asian cuisine.
I bought this German Riesling at the Whole Foods of Bedford.

Dark Horse Limited Release 2015 Rosé, $8.99-$11.99, 88 points, poured a middling Salmon pink color.
Aromas were soft red fruit with a floral vibe.
Light-plus body with good acidity carried big bold flavors of strawberry and rhubarb, but finished fair with herbal notes and an easy 13% alcohol.
Varietals were 40% Grenache, 20% Barbera, 20% Pinot Gris, and 20% Tempranillo.
Paired fine with my Buffalo wings.
