Groth Oakville-Napa Valley 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

Groth Oakville-Napa Valley 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, $134.29-$157.99, 95 points, poured a bright candy-apple red with a clustered neckless of stained hanging tears and a broad clear meniscus.
Sweet red and black fruit aromas nuanced with mulling spices wafted "miles" from the initial pour, and supplementing all of that were hints of citrus, ink, perfume, and smoke (quite complex).
Near to full-bodied red wine with good acidity, pervasively comfortable tannins, and remarkably reflective and redolent flavors which carried deep into the long finish marked by accents of warm pepper spices red licorice, fennel, and a spot-on 14.9% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my barbequed rib eye steak and veggies.

Seaside Cellars Marlborough 2018 Sauvignon Blanc

Seaside Cellars Marlborough 2018 Sauvignon Blanc, $11.89-$15.99, 89 points, was a light yellow gold color and clearing toward the rim.
The nose was a balanced blend of hay, a hint of passion fruit, lemon meringue, and sweet blossoms.
Light bodied white wine with bright acidity and a rather coarse mouth-feel, but the flavors rightly reflected the nose, finished long with a quite tart to almost sour citrus and a well balanced 13% alcohol.
Paired well with my Maine lobster rolls
Not your archetypical Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc.

Bledsoe Family Winery Walla Walla Valley, WA., "Elizabeth" 2018 Chardonnay, $39.10-$45.99, 91 points, was a medium straw yellow color and clear toward the rim.
Aromas of wet stones, apples, pome blossoms, and slightly sour honey were good.
A full-bodied white wine with fair acidity and a complex array of flavors marked by nuanced oak, white pepper, apple, Chardonnay specific grape, and melon rind were more pleasing as an aperitif than as a food wine which seems oxymoronic for a Chardonnay.
Finished long on the fading palate, a hint of lemon zest, a bit spicy, and a spot-on 13.7% alcohol.
Paired okay with my Gulf of Maine lobster in drawn butter, honey roasted chicken, and apple pie; I hope to pair this wine with other Chardonnay compatible foods tomorrow.

Sara Bee Puglia, Italy N/V Sweet Moscato

Sara Bee Puglia, Italy N/V Sweet Moscato, $6.99, 89 points, was a medium brass color with lemon yellow highlights.
Smells of apples, a hint of orange zest, white orchard blossoms, and yes, honey were delightful.
A medium-bodied white wine with some noticeable viscosity, fair acidity, and delicious flavors reflective of the aromas fed well into a good finish accented with lemon oil and a complementing 5.5% alcohol.
Paired well with my Habanero Mexican cuisine, but paired nicely with strawberries, white chocolate, and Macadamia nuts as well.

Château Pontet Canet Grand Cru Classé En 1855 Pauillac 2015 Bordeaux Red Wine

Château Pontet Canet Grand Cru Classé En 1855 Pauillac 2015 Bordeaux Red Wine, $123.24-$144.99, 96 points, poured a deep garnet red with a clear meniscus and heavy hanging legs.
The complex bouquet was dominated by mulling spices, black fruit, perfume, and cherry fruit.
The silky full body carried much of the bouquet onto the palate accented by violets, savory, and an intensifying mouth puckering tannin with bright acidity.
Finished very long on the trailing palate, anise, and a perfect 13.5% alcohol.
Varietals were 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot.
Great red wine now, but way too young; will only improve with age.

Domaine Durand 2018 Sancerre Reserve, Loire, France

Domaine Durand 2018 Sancerre Reserve, Loire, France, $19.99-$32.99, 89 points, was a light brass color with a faint jade sheen.
The aroma was just 'peachy' and showed a dominant grass influence, light pome blossoms and a hint of lemon (very lovely).
Light-bodied white wine with bright acidity and flavors of flint, grass, sweet hay, white pepper, and melon rind.
Finished long on the trailing palate, an intensifying ginger note, and a spot on 13% alcohol.
A rich robust Sancerre, not as refined as I'm used to, and not as stony, but quite good.

Kim Crawford 2018 Pinot Noir (New Zealand)

Kim Crawford 2018 Pinot Noir (New Zealand), $16.19-$19.99, 86 points, poured a bright crystal-clear ruby red, a modest transparent meniscus, and almost no tears.

Aromas were mostly closed with hints of earthy perfume and red cherry just trespassing the olfactory threshold.

Medium-bodied red wine with fair acidity, mild tannins, and a transitory flavor of red cherry cola downgrading to a syrupy cherry after-flavor.

Finished with some warm pepper spices, a hint of mint, and a balanced 13% alcohol.
