Armando Piazzo Piemonte 2013 Chardonnay, $12.00, 90 points, poured a light gold color with a lime green cast.
Aromatic orange peel with hints of green apple and subtle pome blossoms were very good.
Barely medium-bodied with fair to good acidity, a bit tart, and displaying lively flavors of tangerine, lemon/lime, apple notes, and a clean flinty minerality.
Finished well with a 12.5% alcohol and enduring spicy pepper notes.
Paired beautifully with Broccoli in a cheddar cheese sauce over fried breaded pork chops.

Wow! This sounds like a fabulous Chardonnay, and Italian!
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of Italian Chardonnay (the few I have found), especially Piemonte Chardonnay; the price is right too. I do think Americans which are used to a more full-bodied and heavily oak Chardonnay will find them a bit thin, but like Chablis, I find them clean and refreshing (JMO).
