Torres "Secret del" 2020 Priorat Red Wine

Torres "Secret del" 2020 Priorat Red Wine, $27.99-$34.99, 92 points, poured a bright clean ruby red with a broad clear meniscus and sticky stained legs.
The lovely bouquet was perfumed fruit and flowers with herbal, earth, and cedar notes.
I love Priorat wines, just maybe my favorite Spanish appellation, and this red wine was no different.
Not quite full-bodied, but rich, dry, fruity, spicy, showed good acidity and supportive yet easy grainy tannins.
Finished long with spice, plum, and fig flavors, and delivered a well-balanced 14% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my veggie flatbread pizza.
Varietals were Garnacha, CariƱena, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.

Gattavecchi Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano DOCG Lamiaceae

Gattavecchi Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano DOCG, $23.99-29.99, 91+ points, poured a deep glossy ruby red with bourbon highlights, broad clear meniscus, and a sticky clear neckless of legs.
A lovely bouquet of sweet fennel, red fruit, variety of dried Lamiaceae, and a floral vibe pleased immensely!
Vino Nobile is almost always a great wine, after all, the vineyards were planted for the nobles, the price is usually reasonable, and this one is no different; flavors were earthy, rich, and enhanced with easy grainy tannins, good acidity, and an inviting mouthfeel.
Finished long, drifting flavors of truffle, mint, exciting spicy pepper, and a warm 14.5% alcohol were memorable.

Ruffino Modus Toscana I.G.T. 2018 Red Wine, $22.19-$32.99, 90 points, poured a deep ruby red with a slight flash of russet, thin bleeding meniscus, and fat-stained legs.
Soft perfumed floral notes were accented with tons of red fruit, sweet cooking herbs, and hints of toast, milk chocolate, and mushrooms were complex and lovely.
Full-bodied, dry, brightly acidic, showed firm fine grainy tannins (a bit astringent), and a tasty rendition of the bouquet.
Finished long on the trailing palate and a big 15% alcohol.
Paired fine with my meatball pizza.

Hartford Court Russian River Valley 2021 Chardonnay

Hartford Court Russian River Valley 2021 Chardonnay, $25.59-$31.99, 91 points, was a light brass color with a yellow/gold sheen and graying midway towards the rim.
Aromas of lemon zest, dusty melon rind, and hints of cantaloupe and wood were pretty.
This Russian River Chardonnay was dry and medium-bodied, showed good acidity, and a deep flavor profile lead by mellow wood notes, white pepper, tart lemon peel, apricot, and citrusy ginger.
Finished long of the trailing palate and a reigned-in 14.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my rotisserie chicken.

Beni di Batasiolo 2023 Gavi DOCG

Beni di Batasiolo 2023 Gavi DOCG, $12.99-$19.99, 89 points, was a medium straw yellow with a broad graying meniscus.
Aromas of vanilla, lime juice, dusty lemon zest, and a hint of warmed Clementine peel were quite pleasant.
Beni di Batasiolo 2023 Gavi was light, refreshing, tasty, and bright, flavors tracked the nose.
Finished fair, a bit on the mineral side of the palate with a touch of complex citrus notes, white pepper, and a well-balanced 12.5% alcohol.
Paired fine with my batter-fried haddock, but only so, so with my Mac&Cheese (cheddar).
