Martin Ray 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, $15.29-$19.99, 89 points, poured a clear burgundy color with a broad transparent wine ring and moderate legs.
The unpresuming twist-off cap may help to account for the bright fruity aromas, but a lovely potpourri was an excellent counterpoint.
Near full-bodied with good acidity and a taut underlayment of tannin carried early palate boysenberry with black currants, and tangy plum flavors.
I didn't get a lot of complexity here, but a good yeomen's red table wine.
Finished well with a cayenne pepper spice, youthful black currants, and a comfortable 14.2% alcohol.
Paired nicely with my baked fig-pecan roll dessert.
