Volpaia 2021 Chianti Classico DOCG, $25.50-$33.00, 92 points, poured garnet red with a broad clear meniscus and copious legs.
The aroma was a bit different for me, more a new car smell tainted ripe strawberry with a hint of rose pedal.
This was a "tight" Chianti Classico, showed bright acidity, taut tannins, and spicy pepper notes with edgy tart/sour fruit flavors that some will not enjoy, but I found unusually delicious.
Finished long on minerality, black tea, red pepper, and the well-balanced 13.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with our spaghetti in a grass-fed beefy tomato sauce.
