La Scolca 2018 Gavi (DOCG)

La Scolca 2018 Gavi (DOCG), $14.99-$17.99, 89 points, was a very light glossy gold color graying at the rim.
A standout white wine from the Cortese grape was aromatically floral with tangerine and a hint of lemon.
A near medium-bodied wine with good acidity and a rather sleek texture which delivered faithfully the aromas robustly onto the palate.
Finished long on the fading palate, a hint of white pepper, and spot-on 12% alcohol.
Paired well with my fried whole Ipswich clams.

Aromas of dusty red fruit and blueberry with a hint of juniper were pleasant.

Chateau Bonnet 2008 Bordeaux (Revisited), $13.99-$15.99, 86 points, poured a deep slightly unfiltered appearance of garnet red with a lighter penumbra, bright meniscus, and light glass sheeting.
Smells were suggestive of the farm with plums on the sour-side and a hint of cedar.
Near full-bodied red wine with good acidity and slightly astringent tannins managed interesting flavors of mint, plum, black currant, and dried mint herbs.
Finished long on the fading palate, mellow pepper spices, licorice, and a restrained 12.5% alcohol.

Bogle Vineyards California 2018 Sauvignon Blanc, $8.99,-$11.99, 87 points, was a pale brass color turning almost water-clear at the rim.
Aromas of soft apple notes, sweet grass, and Necco wafer were pleasant.
A bit heavier than a light-bodied white wine showing flavors of wheatgrass, honeydew melon, and hints of citrus.
Finished fair on dragon fruit, building ginger, and a well-balanced 13.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my baked filet of sole.

Luna Napa Valley 2006 Merlot

Luna Napa Valley 2006 Merlot, $11.04-$25.99, 89 points, opaque ruby grading to a deep blood red with a thin clear meniscus and hanging stained tears.
A soft slightly sour plum was all I sensed on the nose.
Nearly full-bodied red wine with fair acidity and a mellow underlayment of tannin managed a spicy medley of red licorice, plum, and citrus flavors.
Finished long on the trailing palate, dry, Kirsch, and an appropriate 14.2% alcohol.
