Tavernello 2013 Montepulciano D'Abruzzo Red Wine

Tavernello 2013 Montepulciano D'Abruzzo Red Wine, $5.00, 82 points, was a uniform dark cranberry red with a broad clear wine ring.
The first whiff was of that too familiar barnyard smell, but that transitioned into tolerable light blueberry, cinnamon, and floral aromas.
Medium-bodied with fair acidity, mild tannin, and a rather innocuous blueberry and nondescript red fruit flavors.
Finished just okay for me, with a slightly sour pomegranate, a well integrated 12% alcohol, and easy spice notes.
I bought the Tavernello 2013 Montepulciano D'Abruzzo Red Wine at Market Basket in Londonderry.

  1. 82? That is one of the lowest scores I have ever seen you give a wine.
