Villa Antinori 2012 Chianti Classico Riserva (DOCG), $22.94-$32.99, 90 points, poured an opaque sienna color with a clear wine ring and heavy sticky tears.
Smells began a bit funky, herbaceous, evolving red cherry and soft rose notes.
Medium-plus body with good acidity and a bit of puckering tannins managed to deliver an archetypical Chianti Classico Riserva flavor profile.
Finished fair on cherry fruit, mint, tar, tea, and a traditional 13.5% alcohol.
Paired just okay with our Mexican cuisine.
