Casa Ferreirinha Papa Figos D.O.C. 2011 Douro Red Wine (Portugal)

Casa Ferreirinha Papa Figos D.O.C. 2011 Douro Red Wine (Portugal), $19.99, 89 points, poured core black trending cranberry red at the broad clear wine ring.
Smells of toasty black cherry and sea breezes were quite good.
Medium bodied with good acidity, layered mild tannins, and good flavors of tart black cherry, pomegranate, nutmeg, fresh mushrooms, brine, and licorice were excellent.
Finished fair on the trailing palate, snowballing tannin, red pepper spice notes, and a well integrated 14% alcohol.
I bought this wine at Lucis's Bodega in Windham, NH.
Paired well with manicotti.
