Rombauer Napa Valley 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, $33.99-$42.99, 92 points, poured a deep crushed black currant color which terminated in a bright red ring before the broad clear rim.
I was very pleased with the aroma of coffee, cedar, blackberry, black olive, earth, and plum which carried nicely onto the palate with cola and licorice flavors.
Near full bodied with good acidity and smooth moderate tannin.
Finished long with hints of licorice, red cherry, mint, a well integrated 14.5% alcohol, white and cayenne pepper.

Haven't had any Rombauer for years. Seeing as 2010 is such an appealing vintage to me, I may have to try this.
ReplyDeleteV-girl: Some years ago I spent a considerable amount of money on their Zin and was disappointed; it took me 3 years before I tasted and very much enjoyed their Merlot, but my satisfaction with the Cab. makes me a believer in Rombauer.

ReplyDeleteWe visited Rombauer in Napa last year. Wonderful wines! I like their Napa Valley Cabernet, but the Diamond Selection Cabernet is fantastic. Really smooth with lots of great flavor. You ought to give it a try. About $66.00 at a few NH State Liquor Stores.
NHT: Thanks for commenting and the heads-up!
