Ridge Pagani Ranch 2017 Zinfandel, $33.14-$38.99, 94 points, poured a deep rosewood red with a clear wine ring and a sub-meniscus of violet.
Aromatic redolent aromas of mulling spices, ripe wild briar fruit, and Kirsch were Ridge spectacular.
This was a medium-bodied red wine with bright acidity, rich wild fruit flavors, spices galore, silky texture, pure Zinfandel pleasure, and a perfect 14.6% alcohol.
Finished ever so long on the trailing palate and nuanced with anise.
Varietals were 84% Zinfandel, 7% Alicante Bouschet, 7% Petite Sirah, and 2% Mataro (Mourvèdre).
Paired well with my spice-rubbed rib eye and dark chocolate dessert.
Now, why the "Celebrating Ten Years of Wine Blogging with Ridge Wines and Vinogirl?
I began ten years ago with Zinfandel, and through most of my blogging was the support of the best wine taster I know: Vinogirl.
Ridge, why it's a "go to" winery.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 10 years of blogging. How many wines have you reviewed? A lot, I bet.
ReplyDeleteThis just makes me want to have BBQ or pepperoni pizza, yum!
I bet that touch of Alicante Bouschet added to the depth of colour.
Thanks for the shout-out.
