Château La Croix De Beaucaillou Saint-Julien 2016 Bordeaux Red Wine, $39.52-$46.49, 95 points, poured an impenetrable purple/red with both a ruby and a broad clear meniscus with medium hanging legs.
Up front wafting aromas of ripe blackberry, chocolate, cedar, and earth with soft lavender and red raspberry were outrageously good.
Near full-bodied red wine with bright acidity, firm, but not gruesome, tannins, supple flavors reflective of the aromas with red cherry and soft oak notes.
Finished very long on the cherry, black tea, a touch of anise, and a spot-on 13.5% alcohol.
Varietals were 64% Cabernet sauvignon, 33% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot.
Paired perfectly with our barbeque.

Wowza! "...firm, but not gruesome..." Now THAT'S something I wish I'd come up with :)
ReplyDeleteSeems like a great price for this wine.
If I get a chance, I'm definitely looking to buy several bottles of this one. Most of the pros didn't like this as much as I did, although many did like it; I won't quantify that! ;)
