Sileni Marlborough 2018 Sauvignon Blanc, $11.04-$14.99, 89 points, was a very light yellow-gold color and turned water clear long before the rim.
Gooseberry and sweet hay dominated the smells.
Light, crisp, dry, and very much a Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc white wine. Flavors followed the aroma profile with subtle hints of cream soda, white and black pepper, and a touch of ginger.
Finished very long on the trailing palate and an unobtrusive 12.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my Japanese Rangoon, and well with my steamed soft-shell Gull of Maine lobster in drawn butter.

In contrast with the Silverado SB..."very much a Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc." Thank goodness we have lots of styles available to us :)
ReplyDeleteV-girl: I agree with you, and certainly SB lends itself to terroir, and it is a great white wine everywhere it's grown.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great grape. Need to find a good Sancerre.
ReplyDeleteV-girl: Most Sancerre good!
