LADERA Howell Mountain Napa Valley 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon

LADERA Howell Mountain Napa Valley 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, $34.99-$69.99, 91 points, has a dense royal purple color, with hints of black olive and leather on the nose, as well as hints of cinnamon and cedar, the mouth-feel is smooth and velvety, having flavors of licorice and black cherry with grape and some gentle floral notes. The finish is long, pleasant, and spicy. With all the sediment, this wine needs to stand straight-up in the bottle for sometime or be decanted.
We liked this wine very much, but the price is a bit on the high side of a 91 point wine. I wasn't disappointed!

  1. Delicious review, Dennis. Looking out for this wine on my next trip to the liquor store. The price range is a bit vast... Hoping it's on the lower end !

  2. Ben, I've discovered that this is the lowest price for this wine I can find.
I just may get another for your visit. Delicious is my favorite word for wine, but it works for the review as well.
    Be good,
    Dennis

  3. Bad news Ben, not that you are the bearer of bad news, but I am: just came from the NHLS where I bought this, and I was informed that this wine is ALL gone.
Others were able to appreciate the smooth quality of a slightly more mature Cab than is the trend.
