Andrew Will Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Mountain 2007 Red Wine

Andrew Will Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Mountain 2007 Red Wine, $50.99-$59.99, 93 points, 45% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, has a
dark red to deep purple color with a clear rim, but this wine trails near black at the core.
As I poured this wine, waves of blackberry and purple grape flowered upwards with just a hint of alcohol (14.5%).
With fair acidity, and smooth tannin, this near full bodied dry red wine exudes elegance, dressed in floral raiment and rich black berry, licorice, and mellow spice that is only intensified with a touch of heat on the long finish train.
Though this red wine was wonderful as a stand alone wine, it overpowered my rare spicy strip-steak; I'll have to pair it with something a bit more dominant.

  1. Dennis,

i've heard a lot about Andrew Will but haven't tried any of their wines yet. Outside of the GSM blends, the Cab Franc/Merlot dominated blends out of Washington are some of my favorite wines coming from the state--just as you described with this wine, many have an elegance to them.

    Cheers,

    Nick

    1. Hi Nick, a bit pricey, but a pretty nice wine; I think the 2009 is scoring 95-96 points by some of the "big" critics, and though that might not mean much, at least you can have some confidence spending that much money for a bottle of wine.
If you do taste this one, unlike some people, I'd be very interested in what you think.
David Boyer, one of the best out there in my opinion, says Andrew Will wines are very good, and that's why I went out last week and bought this one, though I still have "Two Blondes 2007 Red" I bought last year.
