Frog's Leap Rutherford-Napa Valley 2013 Merlot, $31.44-$39.99, 92 points, poured a lovely blackberry purple/red trending ruby toward the broad clear wine ring.
I'm psychologically disposed to say its redolent aromas began with dusty black fruit, and I believe it, but regardless, the red raspberry, cedar, and fresh laundered-linen aromas were excellent, especially upon opening; latent floral notes were also excellent.
Medium-bodied with good acidity, fine and firm grainy tannins managed a perfectly balanced flavor profile of plums, violets, black cherry, and mulling-spices.
Finished amazingly long on the trailing floral notes, mulberry, tongue-tingling spices, and an easy 13.4% alcohol.

This Merlot sounds like a great substitute for Shafer's Merlot :)
