Azienda Agricola G. D. Vajra 2016 Barbera D'Alba (DOC), $22.49-$24.99, 91 points, poured core black with 'holidays' of deep purple/reds, a lighter meniscus, and a clear wine ring.
Aromatic sweet mulling spices, red raspberry, and a floral vibe were excellent.
Medium-bodied red wine with good acidity and complementary fine grainy tannins sported a complex array of red fruit flavors trimmed with ripe mulberry and sweet cooking herbs.
Finished long and warm on the 14% alcohol and accenting pepper spices.
Paired perfectly with my Sicilian pizza.
