Round Pond Rutherford~Napa Valley 2015 Sauvignon Blanc

Round Pond Rutherford~Napa Valley 2015 Sauvignon Blanc, $20.99-$24.99, 93 points, poured a lovely light primary gold color with a tertiary green cast.
Fresh cut grass/hay aromas accented by soft tangerine, Lychee, and floral notes were outstanding.
Light, crisp, appropriately acidic, refreshing, luscious, and with aroma-reflective flavors plus a hint of pear, managed a very generous white wine.
Finished long on the trailing palate, good minerality, invigorating ginger notes, and a well-integrated 14.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my Maine lobster-pie.

Dr. Konstantin Frank Finger Lakes 2013 Pinot Noir

Dr. Konstantin Frank Finger Lakes 2013 Pinot Noir, $22.49-$24.99, 88 points, poured a rich burgundy purple/red with a thin clear wine ring.
Intriguing aromas of cinnamon-spiced red cherry with the slightest whiff of celery-salt were appealing.
Just passing the threshold of medium-bodied with good acidity and an easy underlayment of tannin carried juicy flavors of red cherry and red raspberry into the very long finish of warm spices and a restrained 13% alcohol.
Paired quite well with a North East Saturday tradition of Franks (ugh) and Boston-baked beans.
I bought this wine at the Whole Foods of Bedford.

Novelty Hill 'Stillwater Creek Vineyard' Columbia Valley 2013 Sauvignon Blanc

Novelty Hill 'Stillwater Creek Vineyard' Columbia Valley 2013 Sauvignon Blanc, $19.99-$23.99, 88 points, was a bright glossy gold color.
The outstanding floral aromas were accented by lemon meringue.
Light body was graced with good acidity, but not as crisp as many of the Cali 2015 SBs I've been drinking.
Flavors were rather neutral, but citrus notes and subtle melon flavors were satisfactory.
Finished strong on black pepper and a well integrated 13.5% alcohol.
Varietals were 84% Sauvignon Blanc and 16% Semillon.
Paired perfectly with my sautéed fresh North Atlantic haddock.

Lincourt "Steel" Sta. Rita Hills 2013 Chardonnay

Lincourt "Steel" Sta. Rita Hills 2013 Chardonnay, $8.49-$18.99, 86+ points, was a straw yellow color.
Aromas of dominant apple were accented with hints of honeysuckle, caramel, mint, and cantaloupe.
Medium-bodied with fair acidity and a good translation from aromas to palate which carried well into the mildly spicy finish, and made for an accomplished pairing with my BLT sandwich.

Bonny Doon 2014 I Am Not Drinking Any &%&*#! Merlot, $20.99-$24.99, 88 points, poured a deep classic purple/red with a crystalline transparent wine ring.
Aromatic blueberry, red raspberry, black fruit, with hints cigar-box and a soft floral component were good.
Medium-bodied with good acidity and layered grainy tannin carried flavors reflective of the aromas.
Finished long on plum, licorice, warm spices, and 13.3% alcohol.
Paired well with my traditional rib eye steak and mashed potatoes.
Varietals were 76% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc, 5% Syrah, 1% Grenache and 1% Mourvedre.

Apaltagua Maule Valley (Chile) 2015 Carmenère Rosé Reserva

Apaltagua Maule Valley (Chile) 2015 Carmenère Rosé Reserva, $10.99-$12.99, 86 points, poured the lightest of Salmon pink trailing water clear at the glass edge.
The not so good aroma was a bit rubber-like (dissipating) with hints of soft strawberry and a developing floral note.
Crisp, acidic, and light with subtle flavors of lime, lemon zest, and tangerine.
Finished dry, tart, spicy (best attribute), with rather neutral flavors accented by lingering melon rind and a near balanced 13.5% alcohol.
Paired fine with my Philly-steak bomb.
Some will want to know that the closure was a screw-cap.

Chateau St Jean 2013 Merlot (California)

Chateau St Jean 2013 Merlot (California),
$11.99-$15.99, 88 points, poured a deep ruby trending a bright red with a purple cast toward the broad clear wine ring.
Aromas of sweet black grape skin and a hint of lavender were quite pleasant.
Medium-bodied with good acidity and mellow tannins supported straight-forward flavors of plum, black licorice, and a kiss of rich black cherry.
Finished well on the trailing palate, spicy pepper notes, and a warm 13.8% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with our Texas burgers.
