Fattoria Monsanto Fabrizio Bianchi 2007 Chianti Classico Riserva

Fattoria Monsanto Fabrizio Bianchi 2007 Chianti Classico Riserva, $15.29-$19.99, 91 points, begins in the glass as a bright ruby red that transitions from near opaque toward clear at the glass rim.
The nose is profuse flowers and earth, toasty black cherry and espresso.
A near full body carries mouth-watering acidity and tight tannin, bright red fruit flavors, pomegranate, red cherry, and strawberry, but hints of licorice, tobacco, and espresso with dry green herbs add a fine silky complexity. Overall flavor is very good, and is a stand-alone wine or great with saucy Italian cuisine.
With a touch of heat (14% alcohol), and a long spicy finish with a hint of plum, this Chianti sings!

  2. Is "saucy Italian cuisine" the kind that comes with sass and attitude? :)

    1. John, you know them better than I do, but here are a few that will pair beautifully with this wine: Marinara sauce, Neapolitan ragù, and Bolognese sauce. You may feel free to add to these if you like!
