Groth Napa Valley 2012 Sauvignon Blanc, $17.99-$24.99, 92 points. If the succulent Viognier is likened to a broad-sword, then this Sauvignon Blanc is a Samurai sword; it is the crispest wine I've ever "felt". On this hot muggy day this cold white wine gets right to the point with bright edgy citrus, lemon, lime, hints of kumquat, and tangerine-oil (coats the lips), dry and intense.
Is this a simple wine? No way, for the finish counter-balances this wine's early-mid-palate and it's cutting intensity with luscious green kiwi, honeydew melon, and climaxing with a bold ginger.
The light body carries excellent acidity, and aromas of lemon zest and fresh cut grass, and has the clearest of tinted gold.
Watch how much of this wine you drink, for at 13.9% alcohol, this wine is likely to catch you unawares!
2012 Sauvignon Blanc continues to impress.
Maine lobster-rolls were the perfect foil for this wine.
