Freemark Abbey Napa Valley 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon

Freemark Abbey Napa Valley 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, $28.04-$36.99, 88 points, appeared core black trending crushed blackberry toward the transparent rim.
The nose was near dumb, but subtle oak, sea breezes, licorice, and black grape were pleasant enough.
The full body was smooth with ample acidity and layered easy tannin which made for a rather plush presentation.
Black currant contributed to the flavors mirrored to the aroma.
Finished fair with the trailing palate, a touch of the 14.5% alcohol, vegetable notes, and mild spice.

  1. My dumb nose wasn't working today, allergies, tee, hee!
Used to like Freemark Abbey's Zinfandel, don't think I've tasted their Cab.

    1. Tee, hee is always a good response to either allergies or being dumb!
As for their Zin they have sinned and committed omission in NH. as far as I can tell.
V-girl, when you mentioned another varietal (Zinfandel), It reminded me that I had tasted their Merlot. I checked and low-and-behold over three years ago I had, and I rated their Merlot 88 points as well. I'm not sure what that means; just saying, even though you see ratings as dumb ;-) The coincidence makes for an insignificant 3 am wakeup, but a wakeup call nonetheless.
