Banfi Fonte Alla Selva 2012 Chianti Classico, $18.69-$21.99, 87 points, poured a deep ruby grading to pomegranate red toward the broad clear wine ring.
Aromas of toasty plum, mushrooms, and a hint of sandalwood were good.
Medium-bodied with good acidity and a moderate underlayment of tannin carried flavors of cilantro, mint, a chewy red cherry, and cola notes.
Finished on the trailing palate, fading warm spices, and a typical 13.5% alcohol.
Paired fine with our flatbread pepperoni pizza.
