Don Pascual 2013 Viognier Reserve (Juanico, Uruguay)

Don Pascual 2013 Viognier Reserve (Juanico, Uruguay), $12.56-$13.95, 89+ points, was a straw yellow color.
Aromas of tangerine, honeysuckle, and melon were quite good.
Light bodied, trending toward light-plus, managed good acidity with a Chardonnay-like flavor profile, excepting flavors of bright lemon and key-lime pie.
Finished fair on the trailing palate, hints of orange peel, citrus, and a surprisingly well integrated 14.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my spiced and breaded pork chops.
I bought this Uruguayan Viognier at Angela's pasta and cheese.

  1. Only worth 89+ if it had great acidity, not just "good acidity". Nothing worse than a flabby Viognier.

    1. VG, considering that it reminded me more of a Chardonnay than a Viognier, and you know how I feel about over-oaked Chardonnays, I couldn't help myself!
