Tiefenbrunner 2015 Pinot Grigio (Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy)





Tiefenbrunner 2015 Pinot Grigio (Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy), $11.04-$15.99, 89 points, was a light gold color trending quite clear at the glass edge.
Aromatic pome blossoms, apple, and a hint of pineapple were excellent.
Light, crisp, appropriately acidic, and full of flavors reflective of the aromas with hints of black pepper, melon rind, and kiwi were better as an aperitif than with my Asian cuisine.
Finished well on lime notes and a last moment's breath of pear along with the trailing palate and a balanced 12.5% alcohol.

Castello di Bossi 2012 Chianti Classico (DOCG)








Castello di Bossi 2012 Chianti Classico (DOCG), $13.59-$21.99, 87+ points, poured a deep ruby concluding with some bricking at the clear wine ring.
The nose was only okay, marked by rather quiet prune, black cherry, and clove notes.
Medium-bodied with astringent tannins and mouth-watering acidity which managed dominant tart flavors of black cherry and pomegranate.
Finished long on the trailing palate with hints of mint, white pepper, and a significant 14% alcohol.
Paired okay with my spiced-rubbed strip steak.

It's A Head Snapper 2014 Radiant Red Wine (Livermore/Ripon, Ca.)





It's A Head Snapper 2014 Radiant Red Wine (Livermore/Ripon, Ca.), $8.99-$11.99, 87 points, poured a beautiful deep and almost Shiraz purple/red with a broad clear wine ring.
Aromatic cedar/pine, cinnamon, blueberry, and potpourri were enticing and interesting.
Near full-bodied with an underlayment of supportive tannin and good acidity which carried unusual flavors of Red Lingonberry, juniper, and blueberry.
Finished okay on tart pomegranate, warm spices, a hint of marzipan, and a restrained 13.5% alcohol.
I've only been able to locate two red wine varietals produced by Head Snapper, Pinot Noir and Malbec, so I'm only guessing what might be in this bottle.
I bought this wine at the Shaw's Super Market of Londonderry.

Bodegas Avancia 2015 Cuvée De O Mencia Rosé (Valdeorras, Spain)





Bodegas Avancia 2015 Cuvée De O Mencia Rosé (Valdeorras, Spain), $14.44-$16.99, 90 points, poured the color of Pink-Salmon Caviar.
The aromas of strawberry and watermelon were good, but shy, and there was a floral vibe hiding behind them.
Light, crisp, appropriately acidic with a red fruit flavor profile and accented with a hint of jasmine were tasty.
Finished long on the red fruit, ginger, watermelon rind, and a potent 13.5% alcohol.
Paired well with my spicy tacos and sour cream.

Michele Chiarlo La Court 2012 Barbera D'Asti




Michele Chiarlo La Court 2012 Barbera D'Asti, was a gift, but the average price is advertised to be $37.00.
My score for this wine is 91 points.
The wine poured core black and only at the clear wine ring and glass edge did a deep ruby appear.
Aromatic cedar, allspice, violets, a hint of sweet red raspberry, blue grapes, and blackberry were amazing.
Medium-plus body carried mouth-watering acidity, mild, but supportive tannin, and tobacco, blackberry, licorice, red cherry, and floral flavors which were good enough to boast about.
Finished long on tart pomegranate, red raspberry, sweet pipe tobacco, easy spice notes, and a balanced 14% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my chicken parmesan with broccoli and carrots in a butter sauce.

Fuligni 2011 Brunello Di Montalcino (DOCG)






Fuligni 2011 Brunello Di Montalcino (DOCG), $64.59-$75.99, 96 points, poured what I affectionately describe as sunburst red, but as you might suspect, it concluded with a broadly transparent wine ring and a glass bowl of some draping.
A shy, but lovely sweet red cherry, fresh linen, roses, and a whiff of oak on the nose hinted that this wine needed a lot more time to evolve.
Medium-bodied with mouth-watering acidity and layered grainy tannins supported an elegant flavor profile of red fruit, flowers, herbs, and mint.
Finished long on developing flavors which finally culminated with warm spices, clean and crisp red cherry notes, a whisper of bourbon, and a perfectly balanced 14% alcohol.
Paired exquisitely with our Italian cuisine.
This is why Brunello is one of my favorite wines, but keep in mind that this 2011 Fuligni is a very dry red wine, and still has potent tannins which will be too harsh for many soft fruity Merlot lovers.
