Castello di Cigognola Barberasso Provincia Di Pavia 2018 Barbera (IGT), $12.74-$35.99, 88 points, poured an opaque blood red with violet highlights, copious stained-legs, and a clear meniscus.
Aromas of juniper berry, underbrush, and hints of smoke, chocolate, and savory were pleasant enough.
This Barbera was full-bodied dry red wine with good acidity and a firm underlayment of tannin.
Flavors were reflective of the aromas but more fruit-driven with plum, black raspberry, and tart pomegranate.
Finished long, tart, accelerated tannin, and a big 14.5% alcohol.
Paired fine with my steak-tips.
