Ruffino Modus Toscana I.G.T. 2009 Red Wine, $19.88-$25.99, 91 points, poured an opaque purple, but transitioned sun-burst red toward the clear rim.
Aromas of sea-breezes, black cherry, and roses were quite good.
The medium-plus body carried excellent acidity with moderately grainy tannin and flavors rich in cherry fruit and tangy pomegranate.
Finished long with spearmint, roses, tobacco, and some warmth from the 13.5% alcohol.
Varietals were 50% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 25% Merlot.
