Château La Croix De Beaucaillou Saint-Julien 2008 Bordeaux Red Wine, $46.99-$64.99, 91 points, poured an opaque ruby grading blood-red toward the broad clear wine ring and leggy glass bowl.
Opening aromas of rich black fruit with subtle hints of cedar and sandalwood were good.
Full-bodied, moderately smooth, good acidity, and flush supportive tannins managed flavors of dusty blackberry accented by dried cooking herbs and hints of coffee.
Finished long on the lingering palate, black currant, and a modest 13% alcohol.
This is a better wine than many give it credit.
