Chateau St Jean 2013 Merlot (California),
$11.99-$15.99, 88 points, poured a deep ruby trending a bright red with a purple cast toward the broad clear wine ring.
Aromas of sweet black grape skin and a hint of lavender were quite pleasant.
Medium-bodied with good acidity and mellow tannins supported straight-forward flavors of plum, black licorice, and a kiss of rich black cherry.
Finished well on the trailing palate, spicy pepper notes, and a warm 13.8% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with our Texas burgers.
