Graffigna Centenario Reserve 2011 Malbec (San Juan, Argentina), $15.99-$19.99, 87.5 points, wasn't nearly so dark as the recently reviewed Malbecs; appeared deep ruby red with a clear wine ring and thick legs.
Smells of coffee, earth, and a hint of plum were good.
Near full-bodied with bright acidity and a firm underlayment of tannin managed aroma-mirrored flavors, but nuanced dark chocolate and other oak notes percolated in that underlayment.
Finished fine on the trailing palate, easy spices, and a noticeable 14.2% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with our saucy baby-back ribs.
