Da Luca Puglia 2014 Primitivo, Italy (IGT),
$7.49-$14.99, 89 points, poured core black grading more red than purple with a thin clear rim and light sheeting on the glass wall.
Unusually complex and lovely bouquet of mulberry, floral potpourri, and a hint of chocolate was unexpectedly pleasant.
Medium-bodied with good acidity and pervasively smooth tannins carried juicy mulberry flavors nuanced with plum, tobacco, and Kahlua.
Finished long and tangy with the fading palate and a warm 14% alcohol inspirited spiciness.
Paired fine with my fettuccine in a rich marinara sauce.
