Dry Creek 2010 Fumé Blanc Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc, $11.99-$13.99, 88 points, has the clearest of color with just a single shade of lemon yellow to distinguish it from mineral water.
The aroma is a sweet lemon zest with faint hints of tangerine. The light to medium body carries a refreshingly crisp and tart lemon/lime flavor, but the texture and its mineral qualities never let you forget that 13.5% of what you are drinking is alcohol. The fair finish is a juicy reminder of what I just tasted.
I paired this wine satisfactorily with fried wild caught Atlantic Haddock.
This white wine will be enjoyed by everyone, not too dry and definitely not too sweet, but the flavor, though reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc wines in general (Without the cut grass), is pretty much cut and 'dry', but delicious.

If it gets the NH Wineman and Tuscan Vines seal of approval in the same week, then I guess it's a pretty solid wine!
ReplyDeleteYou're too trusting, but for $12 US money (Getting more worthless by the day), you almost can't go wrong.
DeleteDennis, glad you enjoyed it. Whew...now I can rest easy.
ReplyDeleteJohn, it's funny that you said: now "I can rest easy." I had read your post a couple of days before, but I just tried to forget how you described the Dry Creek, and after I was done posting my own review, I visited your post again and:

Tangerine-- I like that. You're sure it wasn't Mineola Orange? ;-)
ReplyDeleteDry Creek's wines deliver good value on a regular basis. I have never been wowed by them, but I have rarely been disappointed. If you find yourself in DCV, check 'em out. But if you do find yourself in DCV, check out my posting on Passport Weekend to see which wineries you may want to include on your hit list.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was planning on going to Napa this summer, but income has suffered lately and I may not be able to. I'm still hoping we might pull it off.
