Bodega Numanthia Terms Tinta de Toro 2008 Tempranillo, $21.99, 91 points, has a deep red to purple color, and a broad transparent rim.
Another aromatic bouquet of a wine from Spain, with bountiful earth tones, flowers, blackberries, and a touch of sweet red cherry and wax.
Medium-plus body rips with heat (14.5% alcohol), acidity, and moderate tannin, rather than flows as did the smoothly lithe Muga Rioja, Numanthia Terms Tinta de Toro 2008 Tempranillo tears through your palate with lots of spice and delicious blackberry, red cherry, and hints of licorice, violets, chocolate, and coffee, all of which trail nicely into the finish.
Buying wines on sale is the norm for me, but since I had a hard time finding a Bodega Numanthia wine, and found this one with the real possibility that it would no longer be available when a sale finally arrived, I decided to pay the full price; if I see this for $18.65, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.
