Roaring Meg Central Otago New Zealand 2011 Pinot Noir, $11.74-$19.99*, 90 points.
Ruby trending pomegranate red with a broad clear rim.
Quite dry, this almost medium bodied bright and lively red wine is what I'd expect from a Pinot Noir, though maybe more noticeable tannins and mouth watering acidity.
Flavors of strawberry and red raspberry fruit with coffee notes were crisp and delicious.
For some, the oak finish maybe too much, but I found that was moderated with the trailing palate, hints of spice, mint, and the 14% alcohol.
The back label is one of the better ones: clear, understandable, and without hyperbole. Thanks Claire!

Uh, what'd I do?
ReplyDeleteClaire, commenting on the review of the Parker Station you said: "I disagree with their claim", and I responded with a complaint concerning hyperbole on wine labels, and that got me to photograph "Meg's" reasonable back label; you instigator, you 8-)
