Neal Rutherford Dust Vineyards Napa Valley 2011 Zinfandel, $19.19-$25.99, 90 points, poured a deep ruby with flashes of maroon, a very broad transparent rim, and considerable sheeting (legs) on the sides of the goblet.
Bright cedar, clove, cinnamon, and red cherry aromas were delightfully noticeable.
Medium-bodied with unusually good acidity and striking tannin carried textures that indeed were 'dusty', tart, and decidedly and pleasantly sharp for me (a zinger-zin if I ever had one).
Flavors of red fruit, mulberry, and a hint of tobacco were well followed on a fair finish of accelerating spice, a hint of the 14.6% alcohol, licorice, and oaky eucalyptus.
Varietals were 96% Zinfandel and 4% Petite Syrah.
