Neyers Vista Luna Borden Ranch 2012 Zinfandel, $22.39-$27.99, 88 points, poured a soft purple/red trending ruby with a broad clear rim.
Though my spongy cork didn't fail, the wine mark did travel to about a quarter-inch from the top.
Aromas of subtle blackberry and alcohol (14.4%) were only okay for me. The medium-plus body carried fair acidity with mellow tannin on flavors of plum and blackberry, with slightly green grape notes and alcohol. Finished long on the trailing palate with savory, spice, and some heat.
Two of my wine tasting friends loved this wine, but it was a somewhat disappointing Zinfandel for me.
