3 Ball 2012 Zinfandel (Paso Robles, Sonoma County, and Amador County), $11.05-$15.99, 88 points, poured a bright pomegranate red with a broad clear wine ring.
Smells of red cherry, cocoa, brine, and a hint of clove were good.
3 Ball's medium body was silky, showed fair acidity, smooth mellow tannin, and unfolded flavors reflective of the aromas with blackberry and plum all of which were good too.
Finished well on plum and licorice notes, warm spices and a sweet-spot 14.8% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my beef, rice, and beans burrito.
Varietals were 85% Zinfandel and 15% Petite Sirah.
