Newton Napa County 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, $14.44-$16.99, 89 points, poured almost core black grading a deep purple/red toward the clear wine ring and leggy glass bowl.
Aromas of black currant and toasty plum were dominant.
Full-bodied (moderately smooth) with good acidity and dense comfortable tannins carried flavors reflective of the aromas with hints of cedar and cola.
Finished long on the trailing palate with black licorice notes and a sweet-spot 14.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly without traditional cheese burgers and Kalamata olives.
Newton Napa County 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is an impressive high QPR red wine which has a good 'tablescape' value; think Poinsettia.
