True Myth Edna Valley 2014 Chardonnay

True Myth Edna Valley 2014 Chardonnay, $11.04-$14.99, 89 points, poured a bright golden color.
Aromatic honeysuckle, melon, and pear, with just a hint of a Necco Wafer vibe were excellent for a Cali Chardonnay, as was its crisp quince and melon rind flavors accented with just a touch of vanilla.
Medium-bodied with good acidity and a whisper of limestone minerality made for a clean uncomplicated journeyman's Chardonnay.
Finished fair on the trailing palate, a lingering almost subliminal lemon, good ginger notes, a hint of caramel, and a restrained 13.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my roasted chicken, mashed potatoes in gravy, and asparagus in a black truffle-infused extra virgin olive oil.
This is an excellent value Chardonnay, provided apple-like quince is your forte.

  1. Necco Wafers, great descriptor, hee, hee!
I would love to own a full size VW bus, sigh.
