L'Ecole No 41 Columbia Valley "Frenchtown" 2013 Red Wine, $10.99-$22.99, 90 points, poured a deep purple/red with a broad clear wine ring.
Rich aromas of black fruit with a hint of cedar and violets were good.
This big red blend of a wine was so much about texture, and though a bit nondescript, the acidity was fine and the tannins were fine; It was tasty and downright quaffable, soft, round, and an ever so easy drinking red wine with black currants, blackberries, and floral flavors.
Finished long on the trailing palate, a hint of plum, and a nicely integrated 14.5% alcohol.
Varietals were 45% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, 7% Grenache, 6% Malbec, 6%Cabernet Franc and 3% Mourvèdre.
Paired perfectly with our Philly steak subs.
I bought this wine on clearance; one of the best values in a red wine I've seen in a long time: QPR was very high.
